Software Engineer

Pluggd is looking for *star developers* to augment our growing team of software engineers. You will be part of the core team that is responsible for designing and developing software that is pioneering the Internet video experience. We have several open positions including positions working on backend server side development, and positions working on frontend rich Internet applications (RIAs).

Responsibilities

• Analyze, innovate, architect, design and develop software for frameworks, core technology components and end user applications.
• Work with product managers and customer facing teams to understand business requirements and translate them into a technical design document, and subsequently, actual products.
• Write code and unit tests to deliver high quality products and technologies.
• Assist in development planning, scheduling and execution (as needed)
• Work with QA to ensure highest quality for software deliverables. Review and contribute to integration and regression test plans.
• Contribute creative and innovative ideas to the business. Including contributions on patents and IP as appropriate.

Required

• 2-7 years of recent experience in hands-on software design and coding.
• BS/BA/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Excellent problem solver, creative thinker, and extremely self-motivated.
• Analytical and detail oriented. Able to prioritize, execute and deliver projects on time.
• Solid OOP and software design ability; should be able to create designs and write code that meets specified architectural objectives.
• Strong design and coding experience in server development, web UI development or both
• Knowledge of Java, C++, C#, Flex or Actionscript is essential.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Javascript, Perl, PHP, Ruby, and Linux/Unix Shell scripting.
• Strong platform skills in Linux/Unix.
• Add energy to already energetic core team.
• Must be able to wash your own dishes.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.

Desired

• Experience in open source technologies with broad skills in technologies such as Apache, Struts/Shale, Jakarta, Spring, Hibernate, AJAX, etc.
• Hard core Java development experience with broad skills in various Java technologies, as well as the ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies; Able to program and debug in complex multi-threaded environments.
• Strong SQL and data model design skills. Experience with one or more databases such as Oracle, SQL, Sybase; Experience with MySQL is a plus.
• Able to work with dogs sitting on your lap (or at least tolerate them running around).
• Experience in a high-energy startup or an enterprise class software company is a plus.

QA Engineer/Lead

Pluggd is looking for a super star QA engineer/lead to augment our growing engineering team. This is a full-time position in a fast paced and exciting start up environment. You will be part of the core team that is responsible for designing and developing solutions to some of the most challenging problems in media, search, and advertising today.

• Work with product managers and customer facing teams to understand business requirements and translate them into comprehensive and detailed test plans.
• Participate in project reviews and design discussions to create project test scenarios.
• Assist in planning, scheduling and execution, which can include, or develop into, coordinating and managing other QA engineers.
• Develop test cases and participate in acceptance testing, regression testing, and stress testing.
• Coordinate with Engineering team to find and document bugs, verify bug fixes, and drive up release quality.
• Maintain and update test results reports, including gathering post-release quality statistics.

Required

• 2-5 years of recent experience in hands-on QA roles.
• BS in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent experience.
• Excellent problem solver, creative thinker, and extremely self-motivated.
• Analytical and detail oriented. Able to prioritize, execute and deliver on time.
• Experience with defect tracking software and SDLC.
• A demonstrated ability to distill business requirements into test cases.

• Skilled in scripting languages, such as Javascript, Perl, and Linux/Unix Shell scripting.
• Demonstrated experience writing complex SQL statements
• Strong platform skills in Linux/Unix.
• Knowledge of Wed Applications/Web Services architecture.

Product Manager

Required

• Completed first year of MBA from top program, ideally with focus on marketing or entrepreneurship
• Some professional experience, preferably in consumer web services
• Strong analytical skills including data and spreadsheet analysis
• Passion for consumer web services, online advertising, media and entertainment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good understanding of industry dynamics
• Passion for analyzing products, customers and market dynamics
• Ability to interact with executive team
